The duration of Invisalign treatment varies from patient to patient, but generally takes between 12 and 18 months to achieve results.

Invisalign treatment involves the use of clear, removable aligners. These aligners are made from medical-grade plastic and work by exerting constant pressure on the teeth, gradually moving them into new positions over time. The treatment is often an excellent option for patients who suffer from mild to moderate misalignment and would like to straighten their teeth in a way that is both comfortable and discreet. If you are considering Invisalign, you might be wondering how long you can expect the process to take. The reality is that the duration of an Invisalign treatment differs from person to person, and there a number of contributing factors. Read on to find out more about the process, and how long it usually takes…

How long does it take?

There are a number of factors that will affect the length of your Invisalign treatment — these include the complexity of your orthodontic case, as well as how compliant you are when it comes to wearing your aligners. When your dentist plans your treatment with the help of 3D imaging, they will let you know approximately how long you can expect the process to take. Although each patient is different, the average treatment time with Invisalign is between 12 and 18 months. You may, however, begin to notice that your teeth have moved within just a few weeks of treatment.

What does the treatment process involve?

When you see your dentist for a consultation, you will have the opportunity to discuss your orthodontic concerns and aesthetic goals. Your dentist will then make use of 3D imaging technology to plan your treatment.

When your series of aligners have been fabricated, your dentist will let you know how often you need to change to a new set of aligners. In most cases, aligners need to be changed every week or two, but this will depend on your particular needs.

It is important that you wear your Invisalign aligners for 20 to 22 hours each day. This will ensure that you achieve optimal results in the expected time period. You should remove your aligners each time that you eat, drink, and brush and floss your teeth.

You can expect to see your dentist every four to six weeks for a check-up. During these appointments, your dentist will check that your treatment is progressing as it should.

How can we help?

At G Dental, we offer a range of cosmetic dentistry services designed to improve the overall appearance of one’s smile. If you would like to straighten your teeth, and are looking for a discreet orthodontic solution, you might consider Invisalign.

If you would like to find out whether you are a suitable candidate for Invisalign, we encourage you to come in and see us. Your dentist will examine your teeth and let you know if clear aligners are appropriate for you. If you decide that you would like to go ahead with the treatment, your dentist will produce a 3D image of your teeth, which will then be used to fabricate your customised aligners and establish a detailed treatment plan. Your dentist will also let you know how to take care of your aligners, as well as how to maintain your oral health throughout the course of your treatment. Any concerns or questions that you have can be addressed at your initial consultation.
