The latest in dental technology allows you to straighten up that smile without the stress and soreness of traditional metal braces. Invisalign can help you achieve a straight and sparkling smile in a discreet and far less painful process than in the past.

At G Dental, we are passionate about helping our patients achieve their dream smiles. One of our most frequently asked questions involves teeth straightening as an adult, and we are happy to tell you that yes, it is possible, and no, you won’t need a mouth full of metal! Invisible teeth alignment with Invisalign is just one of the many services we offer at G Dental – read on to find out everything you need to know about invisible braces.

What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is one of the latest teeth alignment treatments in modern dentistry and is a great alternative to traditional metal braces. Invisalign offers a series of clear plastic aligners, moulded specifically to your mouth and teeth, which are snapped into place and worn for approximately 22 hours each day. These clear aligners help to realign and straighten your teeth and are replaced every two weeks to ensure an ongoing process of straightening over the course of your treatment. This means you can start to see results much faster than with traditional braces! The speed, however, isn’t the only benefit of Invisalign – the main selling point, and what makes it so appealing is the fact that the aligners are completely invisible. No metal, no wires cutting up the tender insides of your cheeks, just smooth, clear, comfortable plastic.

Invisalign Treatment at G Dental

The process of having your teeth straightened with Invisalign begins with an initial consultation with us at G Dental. During this consult, we will take a 3D digital image of your teeth to produce aligners that specifically suit your unique needs. Additionally, the process of 3D modeling will accurately give you a picture of what you can expect your results to be – so you know exactly what you can look forward to following the conclusion of your treatment.

After completing the 3D modeling, we move on to the process of creating your clear Invisalign aligners. These will be replaced every two weeks, as your teeth shift position throughout the treatment. These aligners are made from clear plastic, and fit discreetly over your teeth, so there are no unsightly or painful metal bits poking into your mouth and gums. The total length of treatment varies from person to person but can range from nine to fifteen months, depending on the severity of the misalignment. Whatever the length of your treatment, you will be required to make frequent visits to G Dental for us to track your progress and replace your aligners.

Lifestyle Changes During Invisalign Treatment

Because you are required to wear your Invisalign aligners for 22 hours each day, the biggest lifestyle adjustment you’ll have to make is scheduling your meal times. Important to note is that your two non-Invisalign hours can be broken up into sections, so you can carve out four thirty-minute meal times or otherwise figure out a system that suits you. You can also drink water while wearing your aligners to keep yourself hydrated 24/7 without worrying about damaging or staining your Invisalign.

Speaking of staining, taking care of your aligners is incredibly important. Our team at G Dental will advise you on how best to maintain and clean your aligners while undergoing treatment. Additionally, your dental hygiene is critical – teeth should be both brushed and flossed before inserting the aligner to ensure that no food particles or residue remain trapped between your teeth and the aligner.

If all of this sounds like a lot to remember, never fear – our team will be right there to advise you every step of the way.
